Manage
It may be inevitable that one day your hospice receives a demand letter or a request for records from your RAC. As with ADRs from your FI, it does not mean you are a bad hospice. What it does mean is that you must have comprehensive systems and processes in place to manage any and all RAC communication in as timely and cost-effective a manner as possible.
From the moment a RAC communication is received, a well thought out response needs to be implemented. This section of RAC Assistance for Hospice addresses what hospices need to do to manage RAC scrutiny from the initial demand letter or request for records through the Medicare appeals process.
Monitor the "Manage" category in the sidebar for resources related to managing RAC scrutiny.
